Squarespace is a website builder that allows users to create various types of websites, including blogs and portfolios, which aligns with the content publishing aspect of Medium. It offers a rich text editor for content creation, analytics for tracking site performance (similar to reader engagement metrics), email campaign tools, and mobile app access. While it doesn't have a direct 'recommendation engine' like Medium, its search and discovery features serve a similar purpose for content discoverability. The monetization model is primarily e-commerce and memberships for gated content, which differs from Medium's specific member reading time revenue sharing, but still involves content monetization. It lacks explicit community feedback tools like claps/highlights and a dedicated algorithmic distribution engine for articles.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
