LiveJournal is a well-established blogging platform that offers a rich text editor for creating posts, a feed for discovering content, and community features like comments and user profiles. It supports publications (communities) and tagging for content organization. While it has a 'Shop' for paid services, it doesn't explicitly offer a membership monetization model where writers earn revenue based on reading time, which is a key 'must-have' for Medium. It also lacks explicit reader engagement metrics beyond basic comments and views, and audio story playback. However, it covers most of the other features.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
