Mighty Networks is a platform for building and monetizing communities, courses, and memberships. While it doesn't directly focus on long-form article publishing like Medium, it offers many analogous features. It provides tools for content creation (articles and posts, native video upload), community engagement (chat, polls, direct messaging, member profiles), and monetization (subscriptions, one-time fees for courses/events). The platform supports user profiles, tagging, and mobile app access. Although it has a 'Feed' feature, it's not explicitly described as an algorithmic recommendation engine for content discovery in the same vein as Medium's, but rather for community updates. It also lacks explicit 'reader engagement metrics' for content performance beyond general community analytics.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
