Gumroad is a platform that allows creators to sell digital products and memberships. While it doesn't focus on long-form articles like Medium, it supports many of the same underlying functionalities. It offers membership and subscription models for monetization, user profiles, tagging for discovery, email marketing tools, and mobile access. It also has a discovery marketplace which acts as a recommendation engine, and supports 'publications' through its customizable storefronts and ability to sell various digital goods under a creator's brand. The core difference is the content type focus (digital products vs. articles) and the lack of a rich text editor for article creation, as it's more of an e-commerce platform for digital goods.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
