Surfer is primarily an SEO content optimization platform, not a publishing platform like Medium. While it offers tools for content creation and optimization, its core focus is on helping users rank higher in search engines rather than providing a platform for writers to publish and monetize their content directly to a reader base within the platform. It has a 'Content Editor' which functions as a rich text editor, and provides metrics related to content performance for SEO. It also has user profiles and a search function. However, it lacks features like direct monetization for writers based on reading time, community feedback tools for readers (beyond SEO-focused metrics), and a built-in distribution/recommendation engine for content within its own ecosystem.

I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
