Editorial Manager is a workflow management system for scholarly journals and publications, focusing on manuscript submission and peer review. While it handles content, it's not a direct publishing platform for individual writers like Medium. It lacks a rich text editor for content creation, a direct distribution/recommendation engine for readers, and a membership monetization model for content. However, it does offer reporting for performance tracking (reader engagement metrics), supports managing publications, and has user profiles for authors, editors, and reviewers.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
