Likewise is a strong match as it offers a platform for users to get and share recommendations for entertainment (movies, TV, books, podcasts). It explicitly mentions "Crowd Sourced Recommendations" and the ability to "ask specific questions and get recommendations from other users," which aligns with real-time Q&A. The app also allows users to connect with like-minded people in groups, invite friends, and filter by genre and streaming service, indicating geo & topic filtering. While it doesn't explicitly detail a category-based reputation system, the concept of "Enthusiasts come together on Likewise" and the ability to "connect with like-minded people in groups" suggests a community where expertise is implicitly valued. The privacy policy mentions "Interactive Features" like messaging and chat, and the ability to share content with friends, which implies privacy controls. User profiles, upvotes/reviews, search, push notifications, saving favorites (bookmarks), following topics/users, direct messaging, and reporting/moderation are all directly or indirectly supported by the app's description and user reviews. The only major missing must-have is a clear 'category-based reputation system' and 'daily community prompts'.

I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
