GitHub Copilot is an AI pair programmer that integrates directly into various IDEs, offering code suggestions, chat assistance, and automated code fixes. While it doesn't offer a drag-and-drop UI builder or direct API/database integrations for building internal tools in the same way Retool does, it provides a powerful code editor and AI capabilities for developers. It focuses on enhancing the coding experience and automating development tasks rather than building full-fledged applications with visual interfaces. It does offer AI/LLM integration, natural language app generation (through its agent mode and chat), source control integration (being a GitHub product), security and permissions (especially for business and enterprise plans), and usage analytics.
