Archive of Our Own (AO3) is a fan-created, fan-run, nonprofit archive for transformative fanworks, primarily fanfiction. It offers a platform for writers to publish their works, and for readers to discover and engage with content. The site explicitly mentions features like a rich text editor for posting works, user profiles, tagging systems for content categorization, and tools for community feedback (comments, kudos). While it doesn't have a direct monetization model like a paid membership, it is a non-profit and accepts donations. It also provides search and browse functionalities, and mentions mobile access and social sharing. The concept of 'publications' is somewhat mirrored by 'collections' and 'series' where multiple works can be grouped.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
