Discourse is a forum software that allows users to create and manage online communities. It offers a rich text editor for posts, community feedback tools like reactions and comments, and user profiles with following capabilities. While it doesn't directly monetize content through a membership model like Medium, it supports various plugins for monetization and advertising. It also provides features for publication management (categories, groups), tags and topics, email notifications (similar to newsletters), mobile app access, social sharing, and search/discovery. The platform is more geared towards discussion forums rather than long-form article publishing, which slightly reduces the confidence score for a direct match with Medium's core value proposition.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
