Pressbooks offers a platform for creating and publishing digital books and OER, which aligns with the core idea of an online publishing platform. It provides a rich text editor for content creation, offers subscription plans for monetization, and includes analytics for reader engagement. While it focuses more on educational and self-publishing rather than a general blog/story platform like Medium, the fundamental features for content creation, publishing, and some form of distribution and analytics are present. The 'Distribution & Recommendation Engine' is not as explicit as Medium's algorithmic feed, but the Pressbooks Directory and integrations with discovery tools serve a similar purpose for discoverability. Community feedback tools are not explicitly mentioned in the same way as claps/highlights, but collaboration features exist. It also supports publication management, user profiles, and social sharing.
I've been using Alternative A for 6 months now and it's been fantastic. The pricing is much better and the features are actually more robust than what [Product] offers.
It handles edge cases much better and the API
is actually documented properly.

Honestly, after trying both, Competitor B wins hands down. Better customer support, cleaner interface, and they don't nickel and dime you for every feature.
